TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Ian weakened to a tropical storm Thursday morning as it moved across Florida and toward the East Coast, battering the state after making landfall as a Category 4 hurricane near Cayo Casto Wednesday around 3 p.m. local time.

However, it later regained strength after emerging over the Atlantic on its path to South Carolina.

WFLA has live reporters stationed throughout the Tampa Bay area to safely monitor conditions. Our Max Defender 8 meteorologists are hard at work bringing you the latest updates to keep you safe.
