PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WFLA/NBC) – NBC News reporter Kerry Sanders was almost blown away Wednesday during coverage of Hurricane Michael.
Sanders has been reporting from Panama City Beach, just a few miles from where Michael made landfall Wednesday afternoon.
It was a Category 4 when it hit, with maximum sustained winds of 155 mph.
As Sanders struggled to stay on his feet, Jim Cantore of The Weather Channel stepped in to help.
He and Sanders made their way to a large pole of some type, then Sanders was able to move to safety as the wind gusts died down.
Michael is the strongest hurricane to ever hit the Florida Panhandle.
