TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – We topped out at 87° today in Tampa and we are slowly cooling down this evening. A few showers fire up as the sea breeze moves inland this evening, any rain should fade after sunset.
Tonight the temperatures will sink down into the upper 60s and low 70s. Expect partly cloudy skies and mild temperatures.
Wednesday starts out mild and warms quickly. A weakening front pushes south through the state tomorrow. Behind the front, winds come from the northeast, and that breeze helps create a 30% chance of rain. Since the breeze is from the opposite direction as today, the rain will drift toward the coast in the evening.
The front doesn’t change much for us, but inland areas and northern counties will enjoy lower humidity. We start out Thursday in the lovely upper 60s and warm into the upper 80s with isolated chances for afternoon showers.
Friday starts off cool as well and warms up nicely into the upper 80s. There will be a few afternoon showers that fire up, but it won’t be a washout.
Over the weekend, we’ll see the best chance for afternoon showers over the next 8 days- it will feel a bit like summer, with near 90° afternoon temperatures and 40% chances for afternoon showers and storms. We do need the rain, so area lawns will be a little happier looking.
