Today marks 26 years since the “Storm of the Century” hit Tampa Bay like a hurricane in March.

The Superstorm Of 1993 struck with wind gusts over 90 MPH producing tornadoes and generating a remarkable storm surge of 7 feet in Pinellas County and 9-12 feet on Florida’s Nature Coast.

Advanced warnings saved countless lives however, 44 lives were lost in Florida.

The Superstorm is also remembered as an all-time blizzard affecting Alabama all the way up to Maine with a wide corridor of 10-20 inches of snow and localized amounts up to 60 inches of snow!

The Superstorm produced over $2 billion in property damage across portions of 22 eastern U.S. states.
