You cannot argue with the man under center. He walked to the podium on Wednesday morning to answer a variety of questions from a crowd of reporters.

One of the most compelling statements consisted of only three words.

“Winning is fun,” said Ryan Fitzpatrick.

“There was a great streak we had in Buffalo and that was a lot of fun, a great streak in New York at the end of the year that was a lot of fun, but, with all of those things, what you have is a team of guys coming together, exceeding expectations, and going out there and doing it week after week.”

Fitzpatrick has led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a perfect 2-0 record and he hopes to add to it at home on Monday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“We have to keep our eye on what the goal is. The goal is to go 3-0 but nobody is going to take these guys lightly. This is a team that every single year they are in that Super Bowl hunt, in the playoffs,” Fitzpatrick said. “Obviously, they are 0-1-1 but they have played well this year. It is not like they are getting blown out in those games.”

Fitzpatrick is currently a part of the top offense in the league. He also leads the league in passing yards with 819 yards. The man behind him with 787 yards is the Steelers’ quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger.

“The Steelers have been great for a long time and not a lot has changed in terms of the talent on that team,” said Fitzpatrick.

Roethlisberger is playing in his 15th NFL season and he has spent all of them with the Steelers.

“I think they know who they are,” Fitzpatrick said. “And I think we are still finding out, but we have an idea of who we are. We need to continue to play at a high level and do it consistently.”

The Buccaneers have done it consistently for the past two games. Fitzpatrick attributes the success on offense to the depth at the receiver position.

“To be able to have a bunch of different options of guys that can win in one on one matchups, I think that that is really important,” said Fitzpatrick. “And we look at all of those guys and even some others as well. We are really confident when it comes to one on one matchups.”

With the confidence and the comradery skyrocketing within the Buccaneers organization, Fitzpatrick told us it is easy for him to truly enjoy the game and the people who play it with him.

“For me, why I play this game, why I love playing this game, is those guys in the huddle. I have full confidence in them and it is nice to hear that they have confidence in me. That is why I do it,” he told us.

“I like that feeling out there. I like playing. I just hope it carries over to this game. We have an extremely tough opponent that is really angry right now and looking for a win. It will be on the biggest stage so we are looking forward to it.”
