TAMPA, Fla (WFLA) – The USF football team is more than halfway through its 2018 spring practice program. Now, the Bulls have their eyes set on a very important spring game on Saturday, April 14.

WFLA had a chance to meet with head coach Charlie Strong at the football facility to discuss many issues.

Most important? The battle for the Bulls starting quarterback position.

“When you lose a three-year starter like Q (Quinton Flowers), now it’s about competition,” Strong said.

The Bulls are also trying to replace three starters on the defensive line, the program’s leading tackler (linebacker Auggie Sanchez,) a running back, a wide receiver – you name it.

During our interview, Strong also discussed the success of rival UCF in 2017 and what it will take for the Bulls, and all teams in the American Athletic Conference, to break into the College Football Playoff.

USF released a schedule of events for the spring game, which will be held at Corbett Stadium on the USF campus. A street festival kicks off that day at noon with food, concerts and activities for fans and children.

Kickoff is at 2 p.m. and admission is free.
