TAMPA – (WFLA) The hot start to the 2019 USL Championship season by the Tampa Bay Rowdies has earned head coach Neill Collins coach of the month honors for the month of April.
Collins received 71 percent of the votes which are submitted by the USL Championship National Media Panel and the USL Championship Technical Committee.
“I’m very thankful to receive this recognition but all the credit goes to the players and all
the backroom staff,” Collins said through the Rowdies web site. “Everyone has put in so much hard work every day behind the scenes that goes unnoticed but is vital in what we are trying to build at the
Rowdies. We’ve not reached our full potential yet and we look forward to continuing to
grow as a club as the season progresses.”
This year, the Rowdies are unbeaten through nine games (4 wins, 5 draws).
Nearly one year ago to the day, Collins stepped out of the Rowdies lineup as a player and was named head coach shortly after the dismissal of head coach Stuart Campbell.
Collins guided the Rowdies to a furious finish to the regular season, going from the bottom half of the Eastern Conference standings all the way to playoff contention in the season’s final weeks.
