Austin Meadows is good...really good.
The Tampa Bay Rays announced that Meadows, along with the Braves Ronald Acuña Jr have been named W.B Mason Players of the Week. Acuna Junior takes the National League honors, Meadows the American League.
This is a first for Meadows, who was dealt to the Rays as part of the deal that sent Chris Archer to Pittsburgh last season. In addition, it's the first by a Rays player since Steven Souza Jr. for the week of April 23, 2017.
Meadows batted an UNREAL .545 with six runs scored, two doubles, four home runs, and 12 RBI over the last 6 games.
As far as the season goes, Meadows is hitting .357 with 6 homers and 17 RBI.
The Rays are off on Monday and will begin a 3-game series at Tropicana Field on Tuesday before the Boston Red Sox come to town.
The Rays are the only team in the AL East with a winning record (12-4) and lead the 2nd place Orioles by 5.5 games.
