On Saturday, Tampa Bay Lightning forward, Nikita Kucherov, set a new franchise record for most points in a season.
Kucherov collected his 109th point against the Detroit Red Wings, scoring a goal to make it 2-0 in the first period. This surpasses the previous mark of 108 set by Vincent Lecavalier in 2006-2007. Kucherov went on to score in the 3rd period, pushing his point total to 110.
Kucherov is the first player to record 100+ points in a season since Henrik Sedin in 2009-2010.
The Lightning beat the Red Wings 3 to 2 Saturday night.
On Friday, as a result of a Montreal loss in regulation, the Lightning became the first NHL team to clinch a playoff spot.
