With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers off to a hot start behind quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, it appears another NFL player is trying to acquire some “Fitzmagic” of his own.
Miami Dolphins safety Minkah Fitzpatrick filed to acquire the “Fitzmagic” trademark with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on September 12, according to a report by The Sports Biz.
Minkak Fitzpatrick was the 11th overall pick in April’s NFL Draft out of the University of Alabama. He reportedly wants to use the moniker to sell merchandise with the “Fitzmagic” brand if the trademark application is successful.
Meanwhile, NFL fans are currently associating “Fitzmagic” with Bucs quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who has led the team to a 2-0 start, including their most recent win over the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. Fitzpatrick is the first quarterback in Bucs history to throw for four touchdowns in consecutive starts.
Ryan Fitzpatrick is yet to respond to the trademark request filed by Minkah, however, if he chooses to file for the name as well, it could set off a legal dispute.
