Suh on McCoy: ‘I am definitely not taking Gerald’s spot’

Buccaneers

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers welcomed Ndamukong Suh to Tampa on Friday.

He stood at the podium inside the AdventHealth Training Center answering questions on a variety of different topics.

Suh discussed his decision to join the Buccaneers organization. He complimented the coaching staff as well as the talent on this team. He shared what he thinks he will add to it including his leadership skills and his rather aggressive style of play.

The defensive lineman also told us he would like to wear number 93, which was previously worn by Gerald McCoy.

“I am definitely not taking Gerald’s spot,” said Suh. “Gerald set a stone at this franchise for many many years, very successful, played at a very high level. I have a great relationship with him. The last time we actually spoke was at the Super Bowl, him wishing me luck, and so our relationship is good as far as I know the last time we spoke and I wish him all the best in his endeavors. I am not here to replace him. I am here to kind of make my own path.”

Suh is expected to join his new teammates on the field on Tuesday.
