Woman kidnapped, raped, left on side of Florida road

MARION COUNTY, Fla. (WESH)— Authorities in Marion County are asking for the community’s help after they say a woman was kidnapped, raped and then left on the side of a road.

Officials with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said it happened on Tuesday.

Detectives said a woman was kidnapped near the 9000 block of Baseline Road, sometime between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.

She was forced into a vehicle, knocked unconscious, and driven out of the area.

Deputies said the woman was raped while she was unconscious and then left on the side of the road near the 8000 block of Highway 314.

Investigators are turning to the community for help and hoping somebody spotted something that can help them crack the case.

“At that time of day, somebody saw something,” Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods said. “We need your help to seek justice for the victim and get this violent criminal off of our streets.”
