(WSB-TV/WFLA) – A Georgia girl is the youngest student to get into Spelman College, WSB-TV reported.

Sydney Wilson, a 14-year-old from the suburbs of Atlanta will start at the school this far.

The standout student started taking high school classes when she was 10.

“I just stayed on my path,” Wilson said. “I didn’t really feel like I needed to be popular … because, I mean, I like myself.”

A few months ago, Wilson applied to Spelman College.

Her father got an e-mail informing them of her acceptance.

“And he’s screaming so I thought he was watching a basketball game or something,” Wilson recalled. “So he calls me in and he says look at the computer or whatever and I looked at it and I just melt I was screaming and I was crying.”

Wilson told the news station she plans to major in biology because she wants to work with animals and find cures that can help humans.
