SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – Deputies participating in a driving training on a track in Geneva captured a video of a small plane crash-landing on the course.
Seminole County Sheriff’s deputies were training at the Seminole State College Driving Track in Geneva when the instructors spotted a plane flying over the driving track at an unusually low altitude.
SCSO Alert 1 helicopter, which was in the air assisting with the training, tried to make contact with the pilot but got no response. The instructors heard the plane’s engine sputter and saw the plane begin to rapidly descend. They quickly cleared the track for a possible emergency landing.
The pilot attempted to land near the far land of the track but couldn’t stop the plane before crashing into a chain-link fence just yards away from several parked cars and the training facility building.
The pilot walked away without a scratch but the plane was significantly damaged. Nobody was else injured.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.
