Traffic on I-75 brought to standstill after tanker overturns

Traffic on I-75 was brought to a near-standstill this afternoon after a tanker overturned, spilling chemicals on the roadway.

Hazmat crews and firefighters responded to the Bruce B. Downs Blvd exit shortly after 12 p.m.

Troopers said a black Acura driven by 27-year-old Kimberly Westfall of Tampa had been changing lanes to pass slower moving traffic and collided with the tanker, causing it to overturn and jackknife.

Both drivers sustained minor injuries but refused transport.

Troopers arrested Westfall for reckless driving in the case.

Officials said all lanes have since reopened.
