FHP: Tampa man, 24, killed after car hits pickup truck on U.S. 301


TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A driver has died after their vehicle collided with a pickup truck in Thonotosassa early Monday morning.

The crash happened shortly after midnight at the intersection of U.S. Highway 301 and Jackson Road.

Troopers said the driver, a 24-year-old man from Tampa, was heading north on Jackson Road in Honda Fit. He failed to stop at a stop sign posted at the intersection and struck a Ford F250 that was traveling on U.S. 301.

The man died at the scene.

The intersection was closed for several hours, but has since reopened.
