Hillsborough crews begin major project to fix potholes in Westchase

A major fix to a big problem is now getting underway in Westchase as Hillsborough County crews begin work to get rid of potholes along Countryway Boulevard.

On Wednesday crews will begin ripping out large sections of Countryway Boulevard between Race Track Road and Linebaugh Avenue.

Officials said the potholes are so bad that they will rip out the road down to the foundation and start from scratch.

There won’t be a good way for drivers to get around the project, which is expected to last for the next couple of months. County officials said there aren’t any planned detours at the moment.

The project is expected to cost roughly $1.7 million, officials said.

Drivers should expect lane closures for the next 60 days from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Officials said the community opted for construction to be done during the day instead of at night.
