TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Tropical Storm Isaias regained strength to become a hurricane again before reaching the Carolinas on Monday night, the National Hurricane Center said in its latest advisory.
The storm, which lashed Florida’s east coast with heavy rains Sunday, made landfall near Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina around 11:10 p.m. The update shows Isaias is now at 85 mph winds and is moving north-northeast at 22 mph.
The storm is expected to move inland over eastern North Carolina around 1 a.m. then move across eastern North Carolina for the rest of the night.
The center will move along the coast of mid-Atlantic states on Tuesday into the northeastern United States by Tuesday night.
