A Tennessee woman is going viral after sharing shark safety tips. Eight shark attacks have been reported along the North Carolina coast in less than a month. “My spirit was troubled this morning,” Veronica Nash Poleate says in her video. She explains she’s on her way to church and heard about a shark attack.
The video is titled “Summer Safety Tips!” It has more than 11,000,000 views and has been shared more than 325,000 times.
“I want you all to be mindful,” Poleate says on camera. “Go to the beach. Don’t go to the ocean. The ocean is the shark’s house.”
She encourages viewers to use common sense and “watch the ocean from a distance.” “The shark has the right to eat you up when you in his house. When chickens come in my house … they get ate.”
“When animals come in my house they end up on the plate,” she adds. “Can you imagine how excited the shark would be to see me?”
