Traffic stop leads to major drug bust in Sarasota

A traffic stop in Sarasota leads to a massive drug bust.

Officers were on patrol on Leon Avenue when they stopped Christopher Brown, 31, for a traffic stop. When officers approached the car they smelled the odor of marijuana,

Brown, a convicted felon, exited the vehicle and attempted to run on foot but was placed under arrest by officers. Two other passengers in the vehicle attempted to also flee but were both arrested.

During a seizure of the vehicle, officers found 397 grams of MDMA, two 9mm handguns (one loaded), 2 grams of cocaine, marijuana, and a digital scale.

Brown currently faces a multitude of charges including Armed Trafficking in MDMA, 2 charges of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon, Carrying a Concealed Firearm, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting a Law Enforcement Officer without Violence.
