Second-grade students at Alta Vista Elementary School got the chance to speak with students in Ghana Thursday morning via Skype.
They are participating in a cultural exchange. The Sarasota students have recently learned about Ghanaian culture while the students in Ghana learned about Sarasota.
During the morning call, the students shared the area’s rich circus culture with a performance by clowns from the Circus Arts Conservatory.
In return, the Alta Vista students enjoyed a cultural rhythmic dance performed by the Ghana students.
The students also got the chance to ask each other questions.
This endeavor allowed the students to embrace our differences, forging cross-cultural relationships with new friends across the world.
