North Port man arrested for firing gun into neighbor’s car while intoxicated

NORTH PORT, Fla. (WFLA) – A man was arrested for firing bullets into his neighbor’s car in North Port on Thursday.

According to police, Carl Berryman, 62, is facing a felony criminal mischief charge after discharging a weapon in public and using a firearm in public while intoxicated.

Police said Berryman fired bullets into his neighbor’s car.

One resident witnessed the incident and said Berryman was walking around with a gun in his hand.

Units quickly established a perimeter around his home on Erie Court.

While on the perimeter, police said Berryman left his home and walked towards his neighbor’s house.

Officers engaged and took him into custody without further incident.

Detectives found a firearm loaded with a full magazine.

Berryman is currently in the Sarasota County Jail.
