Venice police and fire crews were on scene of a three-alarm fire involving multiple vessels at the Venice Yacht Club on Tuesday.

According to Fire Chief Shawn Carvey, two yachts were fully involved and the fire spread to two other vessels.

The fire was extinguished around 3:40 p.m.

Firefighers will stay on scene into the evening in case of any flare ups.

All boats were docked at the time and no injuries have been reported.

Fire officials say the cause of the fire is believed to be electrical in nature, but the state fire marshal will investigate.

The damage is estimated to be around $1 million.

Only one lane of Tarpon Center Drive is open at this time and motorists are still asked to avoid the area.
