Motorcyclist dead after hit-and-run on U.S. 41

SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) - The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for the driver in a hit-and-run crash that left a motorcyclist dead in Sarasota County.

Troopers said the driver of a Nissan Sentra ran a red light while making a left turn from U.S. 41 onto Jacaranda Blvd. The motorcyclist, Michael Shea, 67 had the green light as he entered the intersection. The front of the car hit the left side of his motorcycle, throwing Shea from the bike. He died at the scene. 

Investigators suspect the driver fled the area on foot.
