SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – Deputies investigating a Sarasota man for aggravated assault allegedly found more than 200 pounds of marijuana in his apartment and vehicle. The suspect and his girlfriend have also been charged with child neglect.

Victims told the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office they got into a dispute with Eleuterio Galloza, 28, at a Steak ‘n Shake on Cattlemen Road around 3 a.m. on Thursday.

The victims said Galloza threatened them with a black semi-automatic weapon, deputies said. The victims also told law enforcement they heard gunshots as Galloza drove away.

Galloza’s girlfriend, Ashley Plott, 25, told deputies responding to their unit that the suspect was not home, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.

While detectives, with a warrant, took Galloza into custody, they smelled cannabis and saw weapons – in plain view, according to the sheriff’s office.

After receiving a search warrant for the apartment, detectives said they found 112 pounds of marijuana, methandienone, oxymetholone, Adderall, testosterone, anabolic steroids and drug paraphernalia. Detectives then say they found duffle bags with another 88 pounds of marijuana.

In addition, they found almost $6,000 in cash in a safe in the apartment, according to the sheriff’s office.

In Galloza’s car, detectives said, they found a handgun and 93 more grams of cannabis.

“The total estimated street value of the recovered marijuana is $400,000,” deputies said.

Galloza and Plott were charged with trafficking in marijuana and child neglect. Two 3-year-old children were taken from home.

Galloza is also charged with four counts of aggravated assault, four counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia. He remains in the Sarasota County Jail without bond. Plott posted a $26,000 bond Saturday and was released.
