The new spring home for the Atlanta Braves is nearly ready for its debut.
The team is moving to North Port and right now, crews are putting the finishing touches on the new stadium.
CoolToday Park is a state of the art, $125 million facility that will debut to the public this weekend.
After years of planning, the Atlanta Braves are ready to move into North Port.
CoolToday park has seating for 8,000 people, but you don’t have to sit down the whole time.
The stadium is designed to be walkable, with a 360-degree walkway, allowing virtually any vantage point for the game. It will have complimentary Wi-Fi and amazing food options.
But aside from baseball, officials hope the park will bring much more to this growing south Sarasota County area.
“Bringing a organization like the Atlanta Braves to south county will really make a difference in regards to not just tourism, but I think the business community will see this as a way to expand and bring businesses from Atlanta and the southeast,” said Commissioner Charles Hines.
The Braves are moving from their Disney home so they can be closer to other spring training teams.
“We really had to think hard about where the competition was and where we’re able to play and move to play a multitude of teams and this area allows us to play at least five different teams within an hour,” said Braves VP for Florida Operations, Mike Dunn.
In the off-season, county officials are expecting to use the 90-acre complex for farmers markets, sporting events and community gatherings.
The Braves will host their first spring game here this Sunday.
