The Florida Highway Patrol says a blown tire caused a rollover crash that left three people in critical condition on Sunday.

The crash occurred on I-75 in Sarasota at about 3:30 p.m.

According to the report, a 2004 Chevy 1500, carrying four men, was in the northbound lanes near mile marker 171 when one of the tires blew out. The vehicle began spinning clockwise, then traveled onto a grass shoulder and rolled over.

Troopers said three men, ages 28, 43 and 33 were rushed to Lee Memorial and Sarasota Memorial hospitals where they remain in critical condition. A 54-year-old man suffered minor injuries.

Charges are pending, according to the report, but it’s unclear why. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

Further information was not immediately available.
