SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) – A school bus ran a red light Thursday in Sarasota County, leading to an accident, troopers said.
The crash happened in the afternoon near the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The school bus was in the left turn lane traveling eastbound on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way. A GMC Acadia was traveling southbound on Lockwood Ridge Road.
The bus driver, Frank Brown, age 60, ran a red light, causing the other vehicle to strike the side of the bus, officials said.
Twenty-six students were on the school bus. One student was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
