POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A Polk County Government helicopter pilot saw a plane go down on Monday morning and scrambled to rescue the pilot.
Authorities say a twin-engine Cessna crashed in a field that is east of Lake Hancock, which is north of Bartow.
A Polk County Government helicopter spray pilot saw the plane going down shortly after 11 a.m. He was able to get the pilot and take the pilot to the Bartow Municipal Airport, where he was then taken by ambulance to Lakeland Regional Health by Polk County Fire Rescue crews.
Both Polk County Fire and Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the crash scene.
The pilot was the only occupant of the aircraft.
