A woman was killed early Wednesday morning when a fire broke out in the bedroom she was staying at inside a Winter Haven family’s home.
Seven children were among the eight people who escaped from the burning home.
911 dispatchers received a call about a house on fire just after midnight. Firefighters responded to the home at 3346 Timberline Rd.
Nine people were inside the home when the fire broke out. A mother and seven young children made it out of the home.
A 53-year-old woman was in a bedroom where the fire started. She was a friend of the mother and was staying at the home.
Investigators are trying to figure out what started the fire.
No other details have been released.
