POLK CITY, Fla. (WFLA) – Polk County Fire Rescue is on scene of a house fire that has now spread to a second home and other building on Wednesday.

The fire is burning at 1167 Motorcoach Drive.

News Channel 8 has learned Battalion Chief Brian Golden rescued two residents by pulling them out of one of the burning homes.

According to Fire Rescue’s Chris Jonckheer, Golden was on patrol, driving down Highway 33 when he saw the smoke and flames from the original home that caught fire.

“He just had his head on a swivel, was paying attention,” said Jonchkeer.

“It’s because of him a lot more homes were saved.”

A cat was saved from the blaze as well.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
