TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A man is wanted in connection with a brutal attack that was caught on camera outside a Publix store in Winter Haven Saturday.

Police said the attack happened after the victim walked out of the Publix at SE Plaza and was nearly hit by a truck. Police said the victim started yelling at the driver, and an argument ensued.

Surveillance video shows the driver get out of the truck and punch the man in the head. When the victim tried to call police, the suspect knocked him to the ground and started punching him multiple times. Then he grabbed his phone to stop him from calling 911 and threw it, shattering the screen, police said.

Police released surveillance video over the weekend hoping it might help them identify the attacker. They said they got numerous tips identifying the assailant as 43 year-old Donald Walker. Police said Walker was captured on surveillance video walking out of a nearby Chinese buffet shortly before the incident.

“Detectives worked around the clock to obtain a positive ID and have searched for Walker, but he has not been located,” Winter Haven police spokesman Jamie Brown said.

Anyone with information about Walker’s whereabouts is asked to call Detective Haynes at 863-287-9459.
