A motorcyclist was seen weaving in and out of traffic before they were killed in a crash in Lakeland, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened in front of Santa Fe Catholic High School, 3110 US-92, at about 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
According to deputies, the motorcyclist, identified as Jose’ Noe’ Aguilar Jr., 25, of Lakeland, struck the driver’s side mirror of a Mustang and lost control of his motorcycle. The motorcycle was dropped on its side and slid into a truck and an SUV that were stopped in traffic. Investigators say Aguilar had been riding the motorcycle at a high rate of speed and was weaving in and out of westbound traffic before the crash occurred.
Paramedics responded and attempted life-saving efforts, but Aguilar died at the scene. He had been wearing the appropriate safety gear, investigators said. No other injuries were reported.
The crash forced the closure of a portion of US-92 for more than three hours.
