POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) - A medical supplies and clinical solutions manufacturer and distributor Medline purchased 51 acres of land in Auburndale for a new distribution center.
The company announced the purchase Monday. According to the Medline's press release, the new center will bring 100 new jobs to the city.
Medline plans to begin construction this fall. The new 830,000 square foot facility will be located at the Southern end of the Polk Commerce Center, right off of the Polk Parkway, near Interstate 4, and 45 minutes from Tampa and Orlando. According to Medline, the company chose this location because of its easy accessibility to its area customers.
The state-of-the-art warehouse will be designed to qualify for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design or LEED certification.
"The name Medline is a big benefit, it joins the numerous businesses that we have here in Auburndale and Polk County," says Auburndale Community Development Director, Amy Palmer.
Headquartered in Mundelein, Illinois, Medline offers more than 350,000 medical devices and support services through more than 1,200 direct sales representatives.
