President Trump will launch his re-election campaign in Orlando on Tuesday.

It’s no accident the president is choosing Central Florida to kickoff his bid for a second term.

Presidential elections are won and lost in Florida, and the state is often decided in the I-4 corridor between Orlando and Tampa Bay.

8 On Your Side will be live from the Trump campaign launch on-air and online from Tuesday afternoon late into the night.

Senator Rick Scott will be there a day early hosting a hurricane preparedness conference.

The conference will bring state, local, and federal agencies together with the private sector to discuss how to work together before, during, and after a storm.|

Governor Ron DeSantis has a big announcement Monday at the state capitol, but it’s not clear what the governor will be announcing.

He’ll be joined by the Florida secretary of state and supervisors of elections, fueling speculation it has to do with election security and efforts to prevent hacking in 2020.

Tuesday is Election Day in Pasco County.

Democrat Kelly Smith and Republican Randy Maggard will battle to fill the Florida House District 38 seat left open by Danny Burgess.

Voters will also elect the next Port Richey mayor to replace Dale Massad, who’s still in jail on several felony charges.

Sarasota school board members will vote Tuesday on whether to ban cell phones in school.

The final state senate hearing on Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel’s suspension is also scheduled for Tuesday.

Nikki Fried will wrap up the busy week with a speech at the Tampa Tiger Bay Club on Friday at noon.
