TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Gov. Ron DeSantis’ attempt at formally announcing his presidential run was riddled with technical difficulties Wednesday.

The Twitter Spaces discussion between the company’s CEO, Elon Musk and DeSantis was supposed to begin at 6 p.m., but the event was delayed.

“We are kind of melting the servers,” host David Sacks said.

The discussion cut out several times and was unavailable for several minutes.

Following the conclusion of the discussion, DeSantis’ team said there was “so much enthusiasm” for the governor that he “literally busted up the internet” and Washington is next.

“There is so much enthusiasm for Governor DeSantis’ vision for our Great American Comeback that he literally busted up the internet. Washington is next,” Press Secretary for Gov. Ron DeSantis Bryan Griffin said on Twitter.

According to Griffin, $1 million was raised online for DeSantis’ campaign. He said the money was raised within one hour. Griffin also added that the number was growing.
