LAKE WALES, Fla. (WFLA) – A Polk County man is in critical condition Sunday night after an alleged wrong-way crash.
Police received a call about a reckless driver on Highway 27 in Polk County.
A Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputy found a white Altima that had crashed with a semi-truck in Lake Wales. The Altima’s driver, Randall Jackson, of Lake Wales, was traveling south on Highway 27 in the middle lane of northbound traffic, according to the Lake Wales Police Department.
The semi’s driver tried to avoid the collision by moving to the inside lane, police said. “However, the driver of the Altima collided with the trailer of the semi and later was ejected from the vehicle,” officers added.
Jackson was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center with injuries that may be life-threatening. He is in critical condition, officials said.
