Woman hit, killed by car in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) - Police say a woman is dead after being hit by a car in St. Petersburg Friday night.

The deadly crash happened just after 8:15 p.m. on 4th Street North.

According to St. Pete police, a Nissan sedan was headed north near Lincoln Circle North when a woman walked into the road. Police say the front of the car hit the woman and threw her into the roadway.

The woman was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where she was later pronounced dead.

Police are not releasing the woman's name because they are still notifying her family members. They have not released any information on whether the woman was in a crosswalk when she was hit.

The driver of the Nissan stopped after the crash and is cooperating with police.
