A Tampa family wants the owner of a dog responsible for killing their pet over the weekend to come forward.
Tiffany Santiago was at Clearwater Beach with her family Saturday evening when she says a large dog ran up to her small dog named King and grabbed him by the neck. Santiago said her daughter had King on a leash and immediately felt the strap wrap around her leg.
“She comes to realize, the dog is already strangling King by the neck. She was yelling. My oldest son, he was there. He had to literally pry the dog off, he had to kick the dog off,” said Santiago.
Santiago said the other dog shook King around like he was a rag doll.
“When he released, my daughter picked up her dead dog from the sand and that was traumatizing and he was just like, ‘The dog is fine, the dog is fine,'” she said.
The family rushed King to the hospital but it was too late.
Santiago said the owner of the other dog left.
“Have some remorse and come forward. Have some empathy for what you did to my family,” she said.
Santiago has filed a complaint with Pinellas County Animal Services.
