Registered sex offender accused of throwing cat in carrier into water-filled ditch, beating it

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) - A registered sex offender was arrested for felony animal cruelty after he was allegedly seen abusing a cat in St. Petersburg.

It happened in the 4400 block of 4th Street North on Wednesday. 

Police said a witness reported seeing Antonio Ellis Kidd, throw a cat inside of a carrier into a water-filled ditch.  Kidd moved the carrier to a dumpster, grabbed the cat and started kicking and hitting the animal, according to an affidavit. 

He left the scene after the car ran behind a dumpster. 

Kidd was arrested for cruelty to animals and booked into the Pinellas County Jail, where he's being held without bond.

Kidd, who also goes by the alias Scott Rush, is registered as a sex offender, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's website.
