Police: Homeowner shoots suspected intruder in St. Pete

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A homeowner opened fire on two suspected intruders late Tuesday night, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department. 

At about 1140 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired at a home in the area of 27th Avenue N. and 28th Street. 

Police said the homeowner opened fire on two masked men after they tried to break into the residence. 

One of the suspects, Randy Stanley, 26, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was found in the middle of the roadway. 

The extent of his injuries is unknown, but police said Stanley was rushed to the hospital in stable condition. 

The other suspect is still at large, but police said there is no threat to the public.
