Northside Christian School closed due to flooding

Pinellas County

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – Northside Christian School asked parents not to bring their children to school Thursday due to excessive flooding on the campus.

School officials said seniors are allowed on campus so that they can leave for their retreat, but no other students are permitted. The school instructed seniors to park in the front parking lot since most of the senior parking lot is flooded.

Northside Christian School is located on 62nd Avenue North in St. Petersburg.

Radar estimated that about an inch and a half of rain fell between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m. Thursday morning, with two to three inches total in the past 24 hours.

Southern Pinellas County has seen up to twice the normal amount of rain in the past 30 days.

The entire Tampa Bay area remains under a Flood Watch as rain chances continue to stay high through Friday. Flood Warnings are in effect for many rivers as they swell to minor flood stage.
