After serving the country and defending the red, white and blue more than 50 years ago, veterans joined forces at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport to take a tour of the monuments and memorials dedicated to them at our nation’s capital.
Thanks to the organization Honor Flight, 45 World War II, 25 Korean War and six Vietnam War veterans took the Allegiant Air Flight this morning to Washington, D.C.
The veterans got to see for themselves what things like the Lincoln Memorial, World War II Memorial and the Washington Monument looked like up close and personal.
Honor Flight is on a mission to get as many World War II veterans on the trip because they say an average of 300 of those vets are dying a day.
Honor Flight also tells us they can use donations to help keep these trips free for veterans.
