FHP: Drunk driver causes wrong-way crash on I-275; woman seriously injured

A woman was seriously injured overnight when a drunk driver headed the wrong way on I-275 and crashed into her vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The wreck occurred in the southbound lanes of I-275, just south of Gandy Boulevard at about 3:15 a.m. 

The Florida Highway Patrol said 37-year-old Jessica Leigh Murphy was driving a 2017 Subaru Forester, traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-275 when she hit a 2013 Buick Verano driven by 24-year-old Priscilla Ann Mouzon of Clearwater. 

Mouzon was seriously injured and rushed to St. Anthony’s Hospital. Her current condition is unknown.

Murphy sustained minor injuries and was taken to Bayfront Health Hospital. She was later arrested for DUI with serious injury, reckless driving with serious injury and driving in the wrong direction, according to the report. 

Murphy was booked into the Pinellas County Jail. Her bond was set to $10,000.
