Ferg’s Sports Bar & Grill got the green light to stay open this week after an employee contracted Hepatitis A.
According to owner Mark Ferguson, a dishwasher didn’t show up for work on April 13. The employee had only been working at Ferg’s for two weeks at the time, according to Ferguson.
On April 15, the Pinellas County Health Department contacted Ferguson saying an employee of his was infected with Hep A.
The Health Department went into Ferg’s, interviewed all of the employees, gathered timestamps over the last month and inspected the entire restaurant. Officials eventually deemed the restaurant okay to stay open.
“They encouraged everyone on staff to get their shots which they did, including me and my wife,” said Ferguson.
The employee infected has not returned to Ferg’s.
