Dolphin caught on video in long chase for food

Pinellas County

Our friends at See Through Canoe were able to capture an amazing moment Monday as a dolphin was caught on camera chasing down a fish for lunch.

The dolphin chases the fish for a few minutes until it catches the Cravelle Jack, tearing it apart by rubbing and smashing the fish against the sand.

“On the initial 24 second charge you see the dolphin swimming sideways, this is because the water was very shallow. The dolphin also breaches a few times during the charge, this is to gain speed because air provides less resistance than water,” See Through Canoe posted on Facebook.

During the chase, you can even see two Roughtail Stingrays get startled from their hiding places buried under the sand.
