CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) – The Clearwater Marine Aquarium released the largest loggerhead sea turtle its ever cared for on Tuesday.
The 225 pound turtle named “Kirby” was found floating near Indian Rocks Beach back in January.
He was lethargic and covered in algae and barnacles.
The aquarium spent months rehabilitating him.
Kirby returned home to the Gulf of Mexico with a satellite tag on him, which will provide important data to researchers.
You can even follow Kirby’s journey by going to the aquarium’s website.
