ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) – Every good movie has a sequel, and our story Tuesday night about the St. Pete Beach wedding crasher is no different.
Now, we’re hearing from the bride and the photographer who snapped shots of the uninvited guest and the couple’s reaction.
On the sand in front of the Grand Plaza Hotel in St. Pete Beach, Adam and Sadie Dajka got married in front of their families and friends.
But pictures taken during their reception document a very odd happening.
They show accused wedding crasher Mark Saunderson acting like he is supposed to be there.
“I turned around and saw a guy kind of doing the chicken dance. And I thought, ‘well Adam, is that your friend?’ And he said ‘no, I thought it was your friend,’” said Dajka.
Wise to the uninvited dancer, family members got Saunderson to leave.
“He went back in through the kitchen and tried to come out again and that’s where my father and my brothers grabbed him and personally took him out,” said Dajka.
Wedding photographer Val Ritter has seen similar events happen.
“’I’ve had wedding crashers but they’ve never been that aggressive,” said Ritter.
She became suspicious right away.
“I don’t know, I’ve never seen you from the beginning of the ceremony so why would you be doing here getting cocktails, and excited and taking pictures with me, and this time he crossed the line. He went into the first dance,” said Ritter.
We confronted Mark Saunderson at his Land O’ Lakes home.
“We’re doing a story about in incident down at the hotel,” we asked.
He responded, “no, that’s no” and went back into his house.
The entire incident looks like the movie “Wedding Crashers.”
“It’s one of my favorite movies so I feel like I had this coming,” said Dajka.
The photographer is hoping to get more jobs out if this.
“I’m surprised how much attention it’s getting but I think it’s because how he ended up in jail,” said Val Ritter.
The new bride is taking it all in stride.
“Why let something like that ruin the wedding?” asked Dajka.
Several people said Saunderson crashed another wedding held upstairs before coming to this one. He’s charged with disorderly conduct.
The happy couple is planning second reception in Illinois and are hoping they don’t have a second wedding crasher.
