A 60-year-old man died after a fire in Pinellas Park on Friday night, police say.

Firefighters were called to a home on 97th Terrace North around 7:30 p.m. for the fire. Police also responded to the scene to help.

According to police, firefighters who went into the home found 60-year-old Gilbert Murphy unresponsive, sitting in a recliner in the bedroom.

Murphy was the only person inside at the time of the fire. He was resuscitated at the scene and taken to Northside Hospital where he later died.

Investigators say there are no signs of suspicious activity and this appears to be an accident. They believe food on the stove possibly caught fire.

The state fire marshal will continue to investigate the cause and the source of the flames.

The Pinellas County medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
