PASCO COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A patient in Pasco county received the first package of medical cannabis delivered by Trulieve Saturday.

The CEO of Trulieve Kim Rivers announced the delivery Saturday morning.

“Honoring our commitment to a statewide delivery service, we are pleased and proud to announce that the very first patient in the state has received low-THC medical cannabis,” Rivers said.

The patient suffers from chronic muscle spasms and seizures due to Dystonia, according to the Trulieve press release. Trulieve dispensary was the first in Florida to receive a formal Authorization to Process and Authorization to Dispense from the Florida Department of Health, the company said Saturday.

The company also announced it plans to open the doors of their facility in Tallahassee for in-store sales soon.

“I have said this before but we really want to thank the Department of Health for their supreme public service during this process,” Rivers said. “The staff and leadership have been consummate professionals throughout this process and have been accessible and knowledgeable all along the way.”

The dispensary has low-THC cannabis available for delivery to its patients right now. They plan to start high-THC cannabis delivery in early August.

According to Trulieve, patients who want to be treated with the products, can contact their physician who can issue an order for these products in accordance with Florida law.
